Young Shetland Musicians Give Standout Performances

That the Parliament congratulates Emily Laurenson, Mike Laurenson, Jodie Smith and Anya Johnston on their admirable achievements in the 2017 National Association of Accordion & Fiddle Clubs’ competition, which was held in Falkirk; understands that Anya won first place in the under-16 fiddle slow air section, earning the Dougie Welsh memorial trophy; further understands that both she and Jodie came first in the junior duet section, winning the Angus Howie memorial trophy; notes that Mike earned first place in the open accordion championship solo, and also earned the James Patterson memorial trophy for showing outstanding musical potential; further notes that Emily achieved second place in the Scottish under-12 fiddle solo, and applauds all four for their efforts.
