That the Parliament congratulates St Abbs Lifeboat Committee on winning the Eastern Borders Development Association (EBDA) 2016 Award for its work in securing the restoration of a lifeboat service at St Abbs; understands that the EBDA Award recognises outstanding contributions in social, economic or environmental fields in north Northumberland and the eastern Borders; notes that previous winners of the award include major contributors to the region such as Farne Salmon, Radio Borders, Perryman’s Buses and Greenvale AP; believes that this award is worthy recognition of the hard work that the committee has undertaken in the last year to bring a lifeboat back to St Abbs, following what it considers the unfortunate decision by the RNLI to withdraw its lifeboat in September 2015; further commends the local community for excellent and hard-fought campaign, not only against the decision, but subsequently in securing support and funding for a new community lifeboat; praises the huge generosity of Boyd Tunnock, whose donation it considers was crucial in securing the new lifeboat, and wishes the crew of Thomas Tunnock a safe and successful 2017.
