That the Parliament recognises and praises the life of Jane Haining, a Dumfriesshire-born nurse who became the only Scot to be officially honoured for giving her life to help Jews in the Holocaust; notes that Jane died in Auschwitz in 1944 at the age of 47 as a Church of Scotland Christian missionary who refused to return home on orders from her superiors, and who was arrested for working among Jews, listening to the BBC and allegedly sending parcels to British prisoners of war, and further notes that newly-found documents have shed further light on her life and the sense of duty she felt for supporting and protecting Jewish people during this time.
