John MacMillan Appointed MBE in Honours List

That the Parliament congratulates John MacMillan, on being appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in The King’s New Year Honours 2026 for services to Community Development, Sports and Social Enterprise; recognises John's leadership as CEO of the Eric Liddell Community in Edinburgh since 2016, which is a care charity and community hub providing specialist day care for people living with dementia, support for unpaid carers, befriending, volunteering opportunities and a community café, alongside a wide programme of activities; notes his role in curating Eric Liddell 100, a year-long centenary tribute marking 100 years since Liddell’s Paris Olympic gold, and welcoming HRH The Princess Royal as royal patron to support the charity’s work; acknowledges John's long record of service to communities across Lanarkshire, Dumfries and Galloway and Ayrshire, and his broader contributions in education and sport; thanks John for his commitment to improving lives, and celebrates this well-deserved national recognition.
