That the Parliament notes the success of a children's cycling initiative in East Renfrewshire; believes that a joint programme launched by the groups, Enjoy East Ren and Cycling Scotland has helped over 200 children, who attend a local nursery, with learning how to cycle; acknowledges that St Cadoc's in Newton Mearns has been one of the first East Renfrewshire nursery classes to participate in the programme and that there are plans to expand the initiative to include all local early years settings; understands that, in the past year, a total of 21 staff from 10 nurseries were trained with each early years centre receiving seven bikes to support children on their cycling journey; further understands that, over the next 12 months, the training will be made available to early years staff from nine additional nurseries; agrees that cycling is an important skill to help children develop and maintain healthy lifestyle habits, and hopes that the East Renfrewshire programme will continue to grow over the coming months and years.
