That the Parliament welcomes the news that Aberdeen Performing Arts is launching a campaign to mark 120 years of His Majesty’s Theatre, which is based in Aberdeen city centre; notes that the theatre, which first raised its curtains in 1906 with a performance of Sweet Red Riding Hood, has been entertaining audiences with musicals, dramas, pantomimes and much more ever since, including performances by many famous actors and artists, including Vivien Leigh, Alec Guinness, Honor Blackman and Sean Connery; understands that the campaign will consist of a series of events and a special fundraising campaign, seeking to raise £120,000 through donations, partnerships and participation in fundraising events; hopes that the campaign helps to ensure that the theatre continues to inspire generations of artists and audiences alike for another 120 years and beyond, and wishes everyone involved, as well as all of the staff at His Majesty’s Theatre, all the very best with their endeavours.
