That the Parliament congratulates Andy Brown, from Glasgow, on being named Athlete of the Year at the sportscotland’s Scottish Sports Awards 2025, which were held at the Old Fruitmarket in Glasgow; notes that Andy, who is an international windsurfer and a member of the British Sailing Team, achieved a landmark victory by winning Gold at the iQFOiL World Championships in July 2025, iQFOiL being the current Olympic windsurfing discipline; acknowledges his silver medal at the European Championships in late 2024, demonstrating remarkable consistency and excellence; commends Andy’s resilience in overcoming challenges, including his return to the British Sailing Team after a period of deselection, and his dedication to grassroots development through his role as RYA Scotland’s head iQFOiL coach and active support for the Scottish Fin & Foil Association; recognises his efforts to raise the profile of windsurfing in Scotland and inspire the next generation of athletes, and wishes him every success as he prepares to defend his World Championship title and work towards the LA 2028 Olympic Games.
