That the Parliament celebrates the 10th anniversary of Edinburgh Community Solar Co-operative (ECSC); understands that ECSC, which owns and operates around 30 solar panel installations on City of Edinburgh Council buildings, is owned by 600 ordinary people who are invested in community shares that aim to deliver a fair return each year; notes that, in its first decade, ECSC has generated over 11 million kWh of electricity, saving more than 2,000 tonnes of CO2 from being emitted through the burning of fossil fuels; recognises that the panels are installed at no charge and are estimated to have saved the council over £500,000 in energy costs since the launch, helping it to redirect funds to essential local services; welcomes the news that ECSC has another share offer, which is due to launch very soon, when the co-operative will be opening up to new members to help fund a further set of solar installations across the city, and looks forward to what will hopefully be another decade of success and beyond.
