That the Parliament congratulates Lynn O’Neill and the Wishaw and District Pipe Band on being awarded funding from the Eilidh MacLeod Memorial Trust in recognition of their dedication to youth music and community engagement; acknowledges that the Trust has now awarded over £150,000 in small grants to youth music groups across Scotland; recognises the outstanding ethos of the Trust in supporting children and young people to advance their musical ambitions, while honouring the memory of Eilidh MacLeod and all those who lost their lives in the Manchester Arena bombing on 22 May 2017; understands that this funding will help ensure that young musicians are able to return to music-making, supporting tuition and travel costs to promote access and inclusion; recognises the Trust’s commitment to music education in line, it believes, with Eilidh’s own passion as a piper with her local band; notes the ongoing work of the Trust in maintaining a permanent memorial and garden of remembrance on Barra as a place of reflection and tribute, and wishes Lynn and Wishaw and District Pipe Band all the best for the future.
