That the Parliament congratulates Romany Starrs, whom it considers a talented and trailblazing jeweller, on gaining international recognition for her work, following the feature of her Harlequin Grid Epaulette in the New York Times alongside pieces from global fashion houses; acknowledges the remarkable journey of Romany, who is originally from Blantyre and began her business from a cupboard in her home, selling to friends and family, to opening a boutique in East Kilbride, with former studios in Hamilton and Glasgow; recognises her success and dedication, making and setting each piece by hand, and commends Romany both for her contribution to Scotland’s creative industries and for serving as a powerful role model for aspiring entrepreneurs and artists across the country.
