  • Submitted by: Kevin Stewart, Aberdeen Central, Scottish National Party.

  • Motion reference: S6M-18510

That the Parliament congratulates Scarf on its 40th anniversary; notes that Scarf is a registered charity and social enterprise which was founded in 1985 to help households across the north east stay warm and well, with the simple mission of helping people to heat their homes more affordably; understands that, today, Scarf is delivering a range of energy-saving services to householders, communities and businesses across Scotland, working with local and national government, the private sector and other third sector organisations to help lower fuel bills and carbon emissions; further understands that, as part of its anniversary celebrations, Scarf will be introducing new areas of focus, including an early intervention programme for schools and a grants scheme for third sector organisations across Scotland; believes that Scarf has played an invaluable part in combating fuel poverty in the north east and across Scotland over the course of its four decades of operation; wishes all the staff at Scarf the very best for their big year, and hopes that they will be celebrating many more milestone anniversaries in the future.
