Congratulating Alloa Community Shed on Acquiring Marshill House, Alloa

  • Submitted by: Alexander Stewart, Mid Scotland and Fife, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 24 July 2025
  • Motion reference: S6M-18379

That the Parliament congratulates Alloa Community Shed, formerly known as Forth Valley Men's Shed, on its reportedly successful Community Asset Transfer for Marshill House, Alloa; understands that its request, made to Clackmannanshire Council under Part 5 of the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015, was for the transfer of ownership of the property to provide a community shed and community meeting space; further understands that, further to over 18 months of work on the part of Alloa Community Shed chairman, Kenny Quinn, the Scottish Land Fund agreed to fund the purchase of Marshill House, which had been empty for some considerable time; commends Alloa Community Shed, as well as all men's shed and community shed movements, for what it sees as their invaluable services to their communities, not least in the positive effect that they have on residents’ mental health, and further commends Kenny for his tireless and steadfast work in this entire regard.
