Richard Vallis, Co-founder of Lung Ha Theatre, Receives MBE

That the Parliament congratulates Richard Vallis, co-founder of Lung Ha Theatre Company, on being appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in The King’s Birthday Honours List 2025 "for services to Theatre, to Sport and to People with a Disability"; understands that Lung Ha Theatre Company is an Edinburgh-based theatre company for actors and theatre makers with a learning disability and autism, which was founded in 1984 by Richard Vallis and Peter Clarke; considers that the work of Lung Ha would not be possible without the work of its dedicated volunteers, including the support team that supports Lung Ha actors to fully participate in and enjoy theatre; acknowledges Richard’s important work to remove barriers to participation in the arts, and wishes Richard Vallis MBE, and all those associated with Lung Ha Theatre, well.
