10 Years of the NHS Grampian Family Nurse Partnership

  • Submitted by: Kevin Stewart, Aberdeen Central, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 09 June 2025
  • Motion reference: S6M-17863

That the Parliament recognises that NHS Grampian’s Family Nurse Partnership has been operating for 10 years; understands that this voluntary service, which is aimed at young, first-time mothers, covers the first 1,001 days of life, from early pregnancy until the child’s second birthday, and is taken up by more than 80% of those offered the opportunity to take part; further understands that in its first 10 years, the team has worked with 979 local families, helping them to make the best choices for their child through a respectful therapeutic relationship, and has grown from a small team of seven to become 15 highly skilled colleagues, including specially trained midwives, health visitors and school nurses; believes that the service has made a huge difference to many families across Grampian, improving the life chances of hundreds of children, and wishes the team all the best for the next 10 years.
