  • Motion reference: S6M-17846

That the Parliament commends Sir Boyd Tunnock on being bestowed the Order of Distinguished Auxiliary Service award by the Salvation Army; understands that Sir Boyd received this honour from Territorial Leaders Commissioners, Jenine and Paul Main, of the Salvation Army UK, at a ceremony in Bellshill; notes that this award is the highest recognition given to individuals outside of the organisation and understands that it pays tribute to the profound and lasting contribution that he has made to the work of the Salvation Army over more than 30 years, through generous financial support, tireless advocacy of community events, invaluable business expertise, and dedicated service as chairman of the organisation’s divisional advisory board for central and southern Scotland; applauds Sir Boyd Tunnock, who has led the family business in Uddingston, Lanarkshire, since 1981, for what it sees as his unwavering compassion and commitment to helping others, and recognises his dedication to the Salvation Army, whose efforts, it believes, have positively and meaningfully impacted countless lives in the Uddingston and Bellshill community and beyond.
