That the Parliament recognises and commends the incredible fundraising efforts of Steven and Lorraine Cross through their initiative, Steven’s Miles for Maggie’s; notes that the couple will set off on 20 June 2025 from Maggie’s Lanarkshire on a deeply personal and meaningful road trip from Scotland to Alvor, Portugal, a journey, it understands, that they have made annually for the past 18 years in memory of their honeymoon in 2007, a place that they now fondly call their “happy place”; believes that this year’s journey is particularly significant as Steven continues to bravely face multiple cancer diagnoses, making this challenge one of extraordinary courage, love, and resilience; highlights what it sees as the innovative £1-per-mile fundraising campaign, which invites supporters to sponsor each of the 2,043 miles of the trip, with a fundraising target of £2,050 to support Maggie’s vital cancer care services; applauds Maggie’s Centres for their ongoing work providing emotional, psychological and practical support to people affected by cancer across Scotland; encourages communities, organisations and individuals to get behind this inspiring campaign to help raise awareness, celebrate hope, and ensure that no one faces cancer alone, and wishes Steven and Lorraine a safe journey.
