That the Parliament notes that June 2025 will mark the 50th anniversary of the first commercial offshore oil production in the UK; understands that the Argyll field, located 190 miles south east of Aberdeen, began production in June 1975 following its discovery in 1971; acknowledges what it sees as the legacy of the offshore oil and gas industry in delivering jobs, growing the economy and contributing to the UK’s energy security; celebrates that contribution, and believes that offshore oil and gas production should continue to be supported in order to continue to serve domestic oil and gas demand, create jobs and protect energy security.
