That the Parliament congratulates the outstanding efforts of Ross Vernal, Scout leader of the 30th Glasgow (1st Cardonald) Scout Group, who is undertaking a 70km ultramarathon between Lochgoilhead and Auchengillan Outdoor Centre to raise funds for two young members of his troop; recognises that this is believed to be the first time that the challenging route has been attempted as a run; believes that this demonstrates Mr Vernal’s dedication and physical endurance; notes that the funds raised will support Explorer Scouts Erica Sandlan and Liv Muir to attend international scouting events in Austria and the Faroe Islands respectively; understands the wider value of such opportunities in building confidence, leadership and cultural awareness among young people, and recognises Mr Vernal’s long-standing service to the Scout movement, his role in revitalising the Cardonald Scout Hall, and his continued commitment to creating inclusive and inspiring experiences for young people in Glasgow.
