  • Submitted by: Kenneth Gibson, Cunninghame North, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 30 April 2025
  • Motion reference: S6M-17346

That the Parliament congratulates Garnock Valley Men's Shed on the successful relaunch of its Kilbirnie headquarters following a major renovation; understands that members, friends, and local dignitaries were highly impressed with the work carried out at the official opening in April 2025, which was conducted by North Ayrshire Provost Anthea Dickson; acknowledges the group's acquisition of the cleansing and ground maintenance depot at Ladysmith Road, Kilbirnie, through a community asset transfer, and commends North Ayrshire Council for agreeing to sell the property at a significant discount; recognises the efforts of the Shedders in transforming the building, with particular appreciation for the support from the council; believes that Men’s Sheds provide valuable opportunities for people in communities across Scotland to meet, make new friends, learn new skills, and engage in practical activities such as woodwork, playing musical instruments, and model building, and wishes everyone involved in the Garnock Valley Men’s Shed continued success in their future endeavours.
