  • Submitted by: Michelle Thomson, Falkirk East, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 23 April 2025
  • Motion reference: S6M-17252

That the Parliament recognises the retirement of Ray Mackie from Slamannan Village Pharmacy following 32 years of service to the local community; notes that Ray first purchased the shop in 1993 and diligently served the local area until 1 April 2025 when he dispensed his last prescription; understands that delivering for the local community was always a priority for Ray, who modernised the pharmacy and was instrumental in the provision of a free delivery service, which served the Braes area and beyond; notes that Ray spent many late nights during his career delivering oxygen cylinders, stocking first aid kits for the boats docked in Grangemouth and serving four local nursing homes; understands that beyond his work in the pharmacy, Ray was a strong advocate for community pharmacy, serving on many local healthcare committees and was one of the pioneers of the Palliative Care Service in Forth Valley; recognises Ray’s contributions to the provision of pharmacy care within the village of Slamannan, thanks him for 32 years of service to the community, and wishes him the best as he enjoys his retirement.
