That the Parliament notes Newhaven’s story as one of the sea; recognises that Newhaven’s fishing, shipbuilding and coastal traditions have helped shape Edinburgh’s history; understands that as the Capital marks 900 years as a burgh, "Seafaring Spirit" brings the community together to celebrate its maritime past and keep its spirit alive; appreciates that a number of local community groups are coming together for the event providing exhibitions, music, story-telling and hands-on activities; acknowledges that Dame Katherine Grainger, Britain’s most successful female rower, will officially launch the boats, Troika and Bow Tow, and hopes that everyone involved has a successful and enjoyable day.
