  • Submitted by: Stephanie Callaghan, Uddingston and Bellshill, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 22 April 2025
  • Motion reference: S6M-17212

That the Parliament welcomes the expansion of MCR Pathways, which is an award-winning mentoring programme in South Lanarkshire, including at Uddingston Grammar School; recognises what it sees as the invaluable work of MCR Pathways in helping to ensure that every young person, particularly those who are care experienced or facing personal challenges, has someone in their corner to guide and support them; understands that the transformative programme connects young people with mentors, who give one hour a week of their time, either within a local school or in a community-based setting, to make a lasting difference in a young person’s life; believes that this commitment has an immeasurable impact, helping young people to discover a path filled with purpose, potential and hope; applauds the charity’s remarkable growth, having first launched in South Lanarkshire in 2019 across nine schools, and now expanding into 11 additional secondary schools, building on a successful six-year partnership with the local authority; understands that MCR Pathways has delivered an incredible 16,654 hours of volunteer mentoring, positively supporting 863 young people across the region; wishes the organisation continued success in its expansion, and thanks all involved for what it sees as their unwavering dedication to creating brighter futures for the young people of South Lanarkshire and beyond.
