That the Parliament recognises Women and Girls in Sport Week 2024, which runs from 30 September to 6 October; celebrates the achievements of all women and girls in sport, from local clubs to elite athletes, in Stirling and across Scotland; notes the positive mental, physical and social benefits that come from physical activity; believes that barriers to access persist for women and girls, and that ongoing work is required to ensure that these barriers are dismantled; understands that intersecting inequalities mean that disabled women, women of colour and LGBTQ+ women and girls may face particular difficulties to access sport; further understands that it is important for organisers to factor in gendered barriers to access; believes that diversity in sport is to be valued, and notes the positive contributions being made to increase access to sport across Scotland.
