That the Parliament congratulates Bob Christie MBE on his services to lawn bowls as the head coach of Scotland’s Paralympic squad; understands that Bob travelled to Windsor Castle to be appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) by King Charles III; notes that former police officer Bob started his bowling career in 1987, competing in the Tayside Police Championships, going on to represent Scotland in the 1995 Senior Home International Series; further notes that, following this, he then carried out administration duties volunteering as district co-ordinator for over two decades, eventually taking on the director of development role for Bowls Scotland; acknowledges that, during this time, Bob oversaw the reconstruction of the Bowls Scotland coaching qualifications, as well as the launch of the Try Bowls and BowlsMark national development programmes for clubs; recognises that Bob became a coach for the North Bowls Scotland Regional Academy, where he helped to develop the next generation of rising lawn bowl stars, spending two years as a Regional Academy coach, then going on to coach Scottish Disability Sport’s international para bowlers; further recognises that Bob led Scotland’s para bowlers to gold in the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, and wishes him all the very best as he continues to be a huge ambassador for bowling.
