That the Parliament welcomes the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, observed annually on 21 March, which aims to confront racism and promote equality worldwide; recognises that the theme for 2024 focuses on acknowledging, achieving justice for, and fostering development for individuals of African descent; understands that the day’s origins stem from the tragic events of the Sharpeville Massacre in 1960, and that the day serves as a solemn reminder of what it sees as the ongoing battle against racial discrimination; considers that everyone should strive towards a more inclusive and equitable society for all, and thanks all those who have taken part in some way in this international day.
