Doune Bridal Shop Raises Over £1,600 for Beatson Cancer Charity

  • Submitted by: Alexander Stewart, Mid Scotland and Fife, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 22 March 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-12596

That the Parliament congratulates a Doune bridal shop, which launched an event that allowed women to try on wedding dresses in the name of charity; understands that the event has raised thousands of pounds for cancer causes, and that the "Galentines" event was the idea of Suzette Wright at Charlotte Grace Bridal, which is located in the village; notes that the event was organised in support of the Beatson Cancer Charity, which provided what it sees as invaluable care and support to Suzette’s mother before her passing in 2022; understands that women, no matter their marital status, were invited to come in and pick out a selection of dresses to try on, as well as enjoy some drinks, and have the opportunity to have their photo taken within the shop; notes that Suzette, who is said to be taken by surprise at the demand, was able to raise the sum of £1,674 for Beatson, and commends her and everyone involved for what it sees as this highly magnanimous initiative.
