That the Parliament commends the positive contribution made by Nola Milne to the Scottish Borders in her role as Asda Community Champion for its Galashiels store; acknowledges her outstanding efforts to connect the store and its colleagues to the communities that they serve by working with local people to channel funding and assistance where it is needed the most, including coordinating grants from the Asda Foundation, opening up store space for free use by local groups, facilitating school tours and raising thousands of pounds for charities through in-store events; notes that, during 2023, Nola coordinated a donation of £17,000 worth of brand new Asda school uniforms to 15 schools in the local area in conjunction with the Soulspan Ministries charity, supported numerous schools and local good causes through supplying donations for fundraising events, helped to improve the Early Years Centre at Burgh Primary School, organised community clean-up events with Asda colleagues and provided support benefiting thousands of people across the Scottish Borders, and considers that Asda’s Community Champion programme has provided practical support to charities, projects and initiatives across communities for more than 30 years.
