St David's Day

  • Submitted by: Alasdair Allan, Na h-Eileanan an Iar, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 28 February 2024
  • Motion reference: S6M-12299

That the Parliament recognises St David’s Day, Wales’s patron saint day, taking place on 1 March 2024, as a day of celebration of Welsh culture and the Welsh language; congratulates the people of Wales on what it sees as their continued determination to ensure the survival and promotion of Welsh culture, in spite of what it considers to be centuries of attempted efforts to diminish Wales’s identity, language and customs, and believes that there are deep bonds between Scotland and Wales as proud Celtic nations with, it believes, the shared determination to use their parliaments to further their ancient cultural traditions and languages.
