As an amendment to motion S6M-11635 in the name of Liam Kerr (Improving the Performance of the Scottish Education System), insert at end "; expresses disappointment that the Scottish Government’s stretch aims are predicted to close the poverty-related attainment gap by only 30% by 2026, when it had promised to completely close it; believes that the recently published Summary Statistics for Schools in Scotland 2023, which highlight an overall decrease in teacher numbers, demonstrate that the Scottish Government is failing to recruit the 3,500 additional teachers that it had promised to, and notes with concern that the number of probationer teachers moving into full-time permanent posts has dropped to 29%."
