That the Parliament welcomes Scottish Trades Union Congress's (STUC) new tax report, Raising taxes to deliver for Scotland, which shows that £3.7 billion could be raised by the Scottish Government, using current powers, to invest in public services; considers that public services play a crucial role in the fight against poverty and believes that cuts to services will damage local communities; resolves to unite across political parties to do all that it can to prevent cuts taking place; believes that a sustainable solution will require revenue to be raised from those that can most afford to pay, and calls on politicians, across all political parties, to support proposals for income tax increases for high earners in the short term, and, in the long term, for a replacement to the council tax, a wealth tax, and the devolution of new taxes to local government.
