That the Parliament notes the result of the UN General Assembly vote on the UN resolution A/73/85 (Necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial embargo imposed by the United States of America against Cuba: report of the Secretary-General); understands that 187 states voted to end the embargo on Cuba, whilst only two states, the USA and Israel, voted against the resolution, with one abstention from Ukraine; believes that the existing blockade, which has been imposed against Cuba for over 60 years, has had, and continues to have, a detrimental impact on the Cuban people and indeed on Cuba’s economic development; recognises what it sees as the role that Cuba plays in key medical developments and aid, including, it understands, during the COVID-19 pandemic when Cuban nurses and doctors supported countries across the world in their efforts to tackle the virus; encourages the UK Government to utilise its position decisively to encourage the USA to revisit its position on the blockade, and calls for an immediate end to the US blockade on Cuba and for the removal of Cuba from the US State Sponsors of Terrorism List.
