Inverclyde Council First to Introduce Gen+ Meta-skills Programme in Secondary Schools

  • Submitted by: Stuart McMillan, Greenock and Inverclyde, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 27 November 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-11412

That the Parliament welcomes the news that Inverclyde Council has become the first council in Scotland to introduce the Gen+ meta-skills programme across all its secondary schools; understands that the skills programme, which is supported by the Peter Vardy Foundation, is delivered through a digital platform and offers children aged 10-14 interactive lessons; further understands that meta skills are those which enhance a person’s ability to learn and use knowledge quickly, and include capabilities like learning new languages or complex problem-solving; believes that programmes like this can help improve young people’s self confidence in different areas in their academic life, and commends Inverclyde Council for rolling this out across all six local secondary schools within this academic year.
