Tribute to Bishopbriggs Community Champion's Lifetime of Volunteering

That the Parliament commends Bishopbriggs historian and community volunteer, Bill Findlay, for what it sees as his invaluable contribution to the Strathkelvin and Bearsden constituency; notes that Bishopbriggs Community Council, in conjunction with local councillors from East Dunbartonshire Council and staff at Bishopbriggs Library, paid tribute to "Local Legend" Bill, now in his 80s, on his "lifetime of local volunteering" at a special public event to mark the 50th anniversary of community councils in Scotland; understands that Bill has served the local community in a multitude of ways, including as a community councillor, Boys’ Brigade leader and church elder, and also as an author and historian, having written a number of books on the local area such as Auchinairn & Bishopbriggs at War; further understands that Bill has been a dedicated volunteer for Alzheimer Scotland and storyteller to the children of inmates at HMP Low Moss, Bishopbriggs; applauds Bill for his unwavering zest for life, and wishes him all the best in his continuing endeavours.
