That the Parliament recognises NHS Grampian Charity for donating more than £85,000 towards the new echo simulation equipment at NHS Grampian, which is allowing staff to improve their knowledge and diagnostic skills in cardiology; recognises that this new simulator will allow training for healthcare professionals to learn new skills and understand more accurately how the heart works; understands that this new technology will benefit a wide variety of professionals, including doctors in training, cardiac physiologists, nurses and physician associates, as well as staff working in ultrasound in intensive care, anaesthetics, emergency medicine and other areas; notes that the echo simulator consists of a dummy, which is linked to a series of monitors and three probes to allow real-time teaching using a simulation with a 3D heart model, and will provide specialist training without the need for a patient; further notes what it sees as the valuable contribution that this new technology will make towards improving specialist skills in diagnosing and treating heart conditions, and applauds NHS Grampian Charity for allocating generous donations made by supporters for the benefit of patients and staff throughout the NHS Grampian area.
