Savock Farms of Newburgh Named Arable Farm of the Year

  • Submitted by: Douglas Lumsden, North East Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 22 November 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-11330

That the Parliament congratulates Savock Farms of Newburgh, Aberdeenshire, on winning the Arable Farm of the Year at the recent inaugural awards ceremony; understands that this event was sponsored by AgriScot, the Royal Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland and The Scottish Farmer; understands that this is a hotly-contested category and that competition was tight for this prestigious award; congratulates Savock Farm for its cutting-edge, precision technology, which, it understands, has assisted Savock to improve its soil health and reduce its dependency on inorganic fertilisers, while continuing to improve its rolling five-year yield average, and understands that Savock grows a variety of crops for both food and energy production and focuses on the intent to pass the land on to the next generation in better condition.
