Celebrating The Bungalow's Success at the Scottish Licensed Trade News Awards

  • Submitted by: Neil Bibby, West Scotland, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 22 November 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-11306

That the Parliament congratulates The Bungalow, an independent live music venue in Paisley, on winning Best Led Music Venue of the Year at the Scottish Licensed Trade News Awards; understands that The Bungalow's legacy began in the late 1970s with artists playing such as The Fall and the Clash but that it closed its doors in the early 1980s; notes that in 2008, The Bungalow reopened, hosting artists such as Jerry Rafferty and Paolo Nutini; recognises that The Bungalow is a community interest company and that it re-invests its profits to subsidise grassroots arts events and allows music and events management students to use their venue at no cost; understands that as well as running ticketed events, it also puts on free afternoon gigs and open mic nights aiming to inspire up-and-coming artists to fulfil their musical talents and dreams; congratulates The Bungalow once again on this fantastic achievement, and wishes it the best of luck in the future.
