That the Parliament sends its warmest congratulations to Sam Watkins, who won the best music short documentary at the ninth Jerome Indie Film and Music Festival in Arizona; understands that the Perthshire-raised filmmaker, from Madderty, took the award with the film, The Vanishing Strings of the Andes, which has been selected for seven film festivals across the globe; notes that the documentary explores the work of Ecuadorian luthiers and the difficulties that they face to preserve their craft in light of growing threats of cheap, low-quality and mass-produced guitars from abroad, and wishes the rising global filmmaking star the best of success for his future projects.
