SIAF Dusherra Celebrations 2023

That the Parliament congratulates the Scottish Indian Arts Forum (SIAF), a registered Scottish charity, on the first Dusherra reception that was held at the Scottish Parliament on 24 October 2023; notes that SIAF is devoted to inspiring and empowering ethnic communities through advancing arts and culture as a platform to enhance equality and active citizenship; acknowledges the support given to the event by City of Edinburgh Council, along with other sponsors who helped to stage the event at the Parliament; understands that Dusherra has been celebrated by SIAF, and has being widely accessible to the public, for the past 29 years; further understands that Dusherra is one of the most sought-after events for the Indian community during the calendar year; notes that the Dusherra celebration culminated at the iconic Calton Hill, Edinburgh, on 29 October, where 1,500 people enjoyed the event, multicultural programmes, effigy burning and a green fireworks display, and wishes SIAF well for all future events and celebrations.
