That the Parliament recognises World Post Day on 9 October 2023, which commemorates the establishment of the Universal Postal Union in 1874; acknowledges that this annual event sees countries promoting postal services; understands that, in 2015, the United Nations pledged to work towards the Sustainable Development Goals and, specifically, making postal services more relevant for national development with regards to tackling inequality and injustice; notes that the theme for 2023 is "Together for Trust: Collaborating for a Safe and Connected Future”, highlighting the role of post offices in building inclusive communities and encouraging the development of a digital postal network; considers that World Post Day aims to raise awareness of the postal sector's role in daily life and national development around the world; thanks postal workers across Scotland and beyond for the vital job that they do, and hopes that all countries can work together to ensure post’s survival in the ever growing technological age.
