Keeping Promise on Culture Sector Funding

  • Submitted by: Neil Bibby, West Scotland, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 29 September 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-10691

That the Parliament notes the promise made by the Scottish Government on 21 February 2023 to cancel its proposed 10% funding reduction, totalling £6.6 million, to Creative Scotland in the Budget for 2023-24; regrets that the Scottish Government has now confirmed to Creative Scotland in a letter dated 20 September 2023 that it has broken this commitment by not reinstating this funding as promised; believes that this reduction in funding will have serious consequences for Scotland's culture sector, and calls on the Scottish Government to restore this funding, as promised, without delay.
