  • Submitted by: Claire Baker, Mid Scotland and Fife, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 07 September 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-10306

That the Parliament congratulates Fife-based bandsman and conductor, Steven Craig, on being honoured with a life membership of the Scottish Brass Band Association (SBBA) for 50 years of dedicated service in the nation's banding movement; understands that the Buckhaven and Methil Miners Band MD was presented with life membership of the Scottish Brass Band Association at a joint concert with the cooperation band and presented with a medal; further understands that Steven started playing with the Tullis Junior Band in 1970 and has gone on to enjoy playing spells with his home band, as well as the likes of Cowdenbeath Public, CWS Glasgow and Kingdom Brass, and many more as a "dep"; commends his work as a conductor and recognises his hard work and dedication and achievements, including a rare "double" when, it understands, he led both Tullis Russell to the Second Section Scottish Championship and its Intermediate Band to the Third Section title in 2014, and extends its very best wishes to Steven for continued success and for the future.
