That the Parliament welcomes the news that the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race will be stopping at Oban as its penultimate port of call in July 2024; recognises that this will be the first time in its 27-year history that the Clipper Race will be making a stop in Scotland; understands that the Clipper Race is reportedly one of the toughest endurance races in the world with sailors weathering extreme conditions over its eleven month circumnavigation of the planet; further understands that the race attracts an international following, which, it believes, will bring Oban to the forefront of the racing world, and that it will provide a significant boost to the local economy; thanks Oban Business and Improvement District, Love Oban, and Argyll and Bute Council for their support and partnership in helping to bring this prestigious event to Oban, and wishes the event organisers, and its participants, the best of luck ahead of the commencement of the race.
