That the Parliament congratulates Fiona Bruce on winning the People’s Choice Award; understands that Fiona won the award for her work with children with cancer in Edinburgh and in Africa; notes that Fiona works at Edinburgh’s Royal Hospital for Children and Young People; understands that she devotes time to give vital care to young cancer patients in Ghana; notes that she works in a team that is part of a global link of child oncology medics who work through the UK charity, World Child Cancer; further notes that, since twinning with Edinburgh’s children’s hospital, Ghana now has seven hospitals providing childhood cancer treatment to 1,300 children expected to develop cancer there annually, and believes that, due to Fiona’s work, they now have the gold standard child cancer treatment in West Africa and are now training colleagues in other African countries.
