That the Parliament congratulates Feniks on winning the Campaign of the Year award, for its "Shed your armour, show the scars!" campaign, at the Scottish Charity Awards 2023; acknowledges that Feniks has been striving to improve the mental health and wellbeing of the Polish and Central Eastern European (CEE) community in Edinburgh since 2007; understands that Feniks staff and volunteers worked tirelessly to support the most vulnerable CEE migrants impacted by what it sees as the double crises of COVID-19 and Brexit; further understands that, more recently, Feniks was the only charity in Scotland able to quickly respond to the mental health needs of Ukrainian and other CEE migrants affected by the war in Ukraine; considers that social isolation is one of the major factors affecting the mental health of migrants, and that the 2020 Feniks research report, Mental health and suicides among Polish men in Scotland, identified an urgent need for support in this group; commends the success of the resulting campaign, which aims to challenge deeply ingrained stereotypes by encouraging Polish men in Scotland to share their experiences of ill psychological health; thanks all at Feniks for their continuous hard work, and wishes them the very best for the future.
