Congratulating Sheriff Principal Anwar on Her Appointment as Sheriff Principal of Glasgow and Strathkelvin

That the Parliament congratulates Aisha Anwar on her appointment as Sheriff Principal of Glasgow and Strathkelvin, the head of the judicial system of the sheriffdom of Glasgow and Strathkelvin; understands that Sheriff Principal Anwar was appointed as a part-time sheriff in 2011, and a resident sheriff at Glasgow Sheriff Court in 2014, before being appointed as Sheriff Principal of South Strathclyde, Dumfries and Galloway in April 2020; further understands that Sheriff Principal Anwar has recently been appointed to the Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service Board, is a member of the Judicial Appointments Board for Scotland and is the chair of the Summary Case Management Pilot Project Board; takes pride in the fact that Sheriff Principal Anwar is the first woman to hold the sheriffdom of Glasgow and Strathkelvin, and was the first Sheriff Principal from a minority ethnic background when appointed as Sheriff Principal of South Strathclyde, Dumfries and Galloway, and commends Sheriff Principal Anwar for her appointment.
