Neurological Alliances Petition to "Back the 1 in 6"

  • Submitted by: Alexander Burnett, Aberdeenshire West, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 31 May 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-09163

That the Parliament recognises the 1,773 people in Scotland who signed the petition of the four UK Neurological Alliance organisations to "Back the 1 in 6" people who are living with a neurological condition in the UK; notes that this petition calls for the creation of a UK-wide neurological taskforce to share approaches to common problems affecting people with neurological conditions in Scotland and across the other three nations of the UK, such as lack of wellbeing support, delays to treatment and care, and a lack of information and support at diagnosis; asks the Scottish Government to work together with the administrations across the UK to share learning from initiatives and strategies to improve outcomes for people with neurological conditions, and calls for UK-wide collaboration on data collection to enable accurate prevalence data to be collected, services to be planned, and greater visibility of the estimated one million people in Scotland who live with a neurological condition.
