That the Parliament marks World Fair Trade Day 2023, which is taking place on 13 May 2023, coordinated by the World Fair Trade Organisation (WFTO); notes that the 2023 celebration focuses on the theme, “Reimagining the Economy: Regenerative Businesses for the Future"; recognises what it sees as the importance globally of finding sustainable and equitable ways of carrying out trade; notes that 2023 marks 10 years since Scotland was first recognised as a Fair Trade Nation; acknowledges what it sees as the successes and achievements made by Fair Trade businesses and supporters across Scotland as a Fair Trade Nation, and believes that there is still much progress to be made; supports the work of the Scottish Fair Trade Forum, the Fair Trade network across Scotland, including in the South Scotland region, in promoting Fair Trade; welcomes the World Fair Trade Day Celebration, which is being held at the Usher Hall on 13 May 2023 and is being organised by Hand Up Events, and notes its commitment to create policies that prioritise Fair Trade and sustainability, promote standards of good environmental and labour practices, and support Fair Trade initiatives and supply chain transparency and accountability.
