Borders Rugby Legend Greg Laidlaw Set to Retire

  • Submitted by: Rachael Hamilton, Ettrick, Roxburgh and Berwickshire, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 19 May 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-08903

That the Parliament notes that after an illustrious career, former Scotland rugby captain, Greg Laidlaw, has announced his retirement from rugby; congratulates him on what it sees as a remarkable career in which he became Scotland’s most capped captain, and second all-time points scorer; understands that Greg Laidlaw’s rugby journey began in the Borders town of Jedburgh, and, it considers, led him to coming very close to captaining Scotland to the 2015 Rugby World Cup semi-final, were it not for a certain referee controversially blowing his whistle, and wishes him and his family the best for their future.
