Perthshire Charities Receive 25k from Scotmid Co-operative's Community Connect Scheme

  • Submitted by: Jim Fairlie, Perthshire South and Kinross-shire, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 05 May 2023
  • Motion reference: S6M-08813

That the Parliament welcomes the award from Scotmid Co-operative’s Community Connect award scheme of £15,000 to Perthshire-based charity, Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA), and £5,000 to Perth Autism Support; understands that SCAA saves and improves lives every day, and is an integral part of Scotland’s frontline emergency response network; further understands that it has paramedic crews based at Perth and Aberdeen, with the ability to reach 90% of Scotland’s population within 25 minutes; believes that this saves vital time, when every second counts, and that funding will be used to purchase new mascot costumes to help SCAA raise the charity’s profile; considers that Perth Autism Support bridges the gap in services for autistic children, young people and their families, with over 1,100 children and young people registered for a wide range of bespoke services, and that the funding will contribute towards the renovation of the building to create a modern, bright space; notes that the 20th anniversary of the SCAA’s establishment will take place at an upcoming reception at the Scottish Parliament, hosted by Perthshire MSP, John Swinney; further notes that Scotmid Members voted to award a share of the £150,000 Community Connect funding to six shortlisted Scottish good causes, and thanks them for their generous award to meaningful and impactful community projects.
