That the Parliament welcomes the news from the Communication Workers Union (CWU) that it has reached an agreement with Royal Mail Group; notes the view of the CWU that the Royal Mail Group’s original plans included compulsory redundancies, three hours later start times, total flexibility, imposed pay and the removal of all allowances, abusing performance data, refusing an independent review of conduct, ripping up all of the union agreements and removing the union from the workplace; commends the workforce and its union which, it understands, have opposed these plans to deliver an agreement that the CWU says is “completely unrecognisable from the one tabled at the start of this dispute and even their so-called ‘best and final’ offer in December 2022”; welcomes the reported inclusion of the potential role expansion for postal workers to put them at the centre of economic recovery, and looks forward to seeing posties back on their rounds across Scotland, delivering for people and communities.
